Title: | Twenty four Grand Préludes through all Keys |
Dedication: | His Friend Camille Pleyel |
First English edition in which the whole Op. 28 was divided into two fascicules bearing consecutive plate numbers (3098 & 3099), and containing respectively 14 and 10 preludes. EE1 is based on FE2, with some arbitrary revisions – see Prelude in C no. 1. Chopin had no part in preparing the edition.
In this Prelude, inaccuracies of the chromatic notation were corrected by adding accidentals in the L.H. part on the basis of the R.H. part (b. 10, 13 and 14). In addition, naturals raising c(1) to c(1) in b. 5 were added (overlooked by Chopin). Similar naturals were also added – arbitrarily and erroneously – in b. 6.
In bar 4 the mistaken 4th L.H. quaver was repeated after FE – d instead of e.
