Omission of the accidental before the internal note of the chord in the second half of the bar in all sources (except for GE4) raises doubt whether Chopin intended for g or g
, as we find g in neighbouring bars, and omission of accidentals in similar cases is common for Chopin.
If Chopin's writing is correct, then we should read g (Chopin used cautionary marks much less frequently than nowadays); we present this version in the main text.
In terms of music it seems equally possible to use g here. If we see lack of 
as Chopin's omission, we can take this version as the alternative reading of A and the remaining sources. Flats lowering g to g - in rather obvious places - were omitted in A twenty times in total; most of them however were added in Fontana's copies and proofing of FE (e.g. in b. 22). The fact that Chopin wrote out the discussed place three times without decreases the probability of an omission.
