EE1 - First English edition

Publisher: Wessel & Stapleton
Date: VII-VIII 1842
Plate number: W & S. No 5303.
Title: Eighth Set of Mazurkas || No. 2.
Dedication: Mister Henry Field, of Bath

EE1 is based on a proof copy of FE1 that did not contain the group of last changes introduced by Chopin – see the characterization of FE1. Certain errors of FE, corrected during the last stage of proofreading, are preserved in EE1, e.g. the erroneous chord at the beginning of b. 29 or the lack of R.H. slurs in bars 84-102. The edition does not bear any traces of Chopin's participation in its development; however, it was revised, e.g. in bars 43-44.

The copy of EE1 presented in mUltimate Chopin probably comes from the beginning of 1843, which is indicated by the content of the title page*.
