In b. 553 and 555 the continuous arpeggios in FE (→EE) must be a result of misunderstanding the notation of A, in which the wavy lines, although being close to each other, are clearly separated. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE |

The addition of the L.H. three-note slurs in b. 553-554 and 555-556, modelled after the R.H. motifs, is a revision of GE, quite frequently used in Breitkopf & Härtel's publications (cf., e.g. b. 572-579). However, in this case it is almost certain that such slurs correspond to Chopin's intention, since he wrote such slurs in analogous b. 557-558 and 559-560. Chopin could have missed the difference in the indications of b. 553-556 and 557-560, as b. 557 opens a new page of A. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: GE revisions |

In FE (→EE), the lack of arpeggio signs in bar 554 is undoubtedly due to an error of the engraver of FE. Similarly in bar 559. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE |

The missing three-note R.H. slurs in b. 555-556 and 557-558 must be a mistake of EE. Generally, EE include a few slurring irregularities in this fragment that are difficult to explain; see also b. 557-560, 561-566. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE |
