The addition of the L.H. three-note slurs in b. 553-554 and 555-556, modelled after the R.H. motifs, is a revision of GE, quite frequently used in Breitkopf & Härtel's publications (cf., e.g. b. 572-579). However, in this case it is almost certain that such slurs correspond to Chopin's intention, since he wrote such slurs in analogous b. 557-558 and 559-560. Chopin could have missed the difference in the indications of b. 553-556 and 557-560, as b. 557 opens a new page of A.
