b. 596

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

..

Just like in b. 13 and 145, in the main text we add cautionary flats. The addition was already introduced in GE2 (→GE3).

b. 630-632

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

..

Just like in b. 179-181, in the main text we add cautionary flats before the E1 and E grace notes in b. 630 and before the D1-D octave in b. 632. The accidentals in b. 630 were added already in GE, whereas those in b. 632 – in GE2 (→GE3).

b. 649

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

a in A (→FEEE)

c1 in FC (→GE)

..

Just like in b. 198, of which the discussed bar is an exact repetition, the version of A (→FEEE) is the original version, changed by Chopin in that bar in FC (→GE).

b. 655

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

d1 & d1 in A (→FCGE) & EE2 (→EE3)

f1 & e1 in FE, interpretation

d1 & e1 in EE1, interpretation

..

The versions of FE and EE1 must be erroneous (in addition, FE do not contain a  before the 3rd crotchet), since a simple scheme, on which this harmonic accompaniment is based, would be distorted, without a sonic explanation. EE2 (→EE3) introduced the correct text probably on the basis of a comparison with the previous two appearances of this phrase or with GE.

b. 684

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

a2 in chord in A (→FCGE)

No a2 in chord in FE (→EE)

..

The version of FE must be a result of an overlooked note by the engraver, who was less careful this time (analogous b. 233 was reproduced correctly in FE, on the basis of the same notation of A).
