Issues : Authentic corrections of FC
b. 450
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
The version of A is the original one, left by inadvertence: in an analogous situation, eight bars earlier, Chopin changed b2 to a2, and in the discussed bar he introduced an identical change in FC and FE. In the case of FE the change was introduced in the last phase of proofreading, not included in EE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Corrections in A , Authentic corrections of FE , Omitted correction of an analogous place , Authentic corrections of FC |

b. 452-457
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
In the main text we give the concordant pedalling of b. 452-453 and 456-457, entered by Chopin into FC (→GE1) and added by him in the proofreading of FE (→EE). The version of GE2 is an arbitrary revision, making those bars similar to b. 350-351 and 354-355. GE3 restored the version of FC and GE1. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions , Authentic corrections of FE , Authentic corrections of FC |

b. 528-539
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
Chopin added a 12-bar crescendo both in FC (→GE) and FE (→EE). In the main text we reproduce the notation of FC, in which the word cresc. appears in b. 528 slightly earlier (anyway, in the case of such a long dynamic change it does not actually matter). b. 538-540
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
In the main text we give 5 accents written by Chopin in FC, our principal source. The slur present in A was not reproduced both in FC and FE; Chopin also did not introduce it in any of them, although he was adding indications in this place in both of them. In turn, the hairpin is preserved in FE and can be considered a fully-fledged variant. In turn, taking into account the fact that Chopin could have added it in A already after having proofread FC, we suggest it also as a variant completion of the version of FC. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Corrections in A , Chopin's hesitations , Authentic corrections of FC |
