Issues : Terzverschreibung error

b. 317

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

d4 in FE (→EE)

b3 in GE

..

The version of GE is most probably a mistake, although, just like in the case of the majority of Terzverschreibung errors, it is possible to accept the sound result. Admittedly, the bar does not repeat the previous harmonic scheme, yet the melodic analogy remains clear, and changing the final interval would distort, for no apparent reason, the octave line implemented from bar 315:

d2 in FE (→GE) & EE2 (→EE3)

f2 in EE1

The version of EE1 seems to be a Terzverschreibung error, revised by removing the , unnecessary next to f2. However, a transfer of the note could have also been intentional, under the influence of bar 431. Anyways, it was already in EE2 (→EE3) that the authentic dwas restored.

In FE, there is no  raising c2 to c2. Visible traces of corrections in print reveal that it was athat was the original version; it was moved to the correct pitch in the proofreading, yet without . This patent oversight (of the engraver or of Chopin at the time of marking the correction) was revised both in GE and EE.

b. 542-543

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

The visible traces of changes prove that two identical Terzverschreibung errors were committed in FE – b1 instead of d2 on the last semiquaver of the 2nd beat of each of those bars.

In GE1, the first crotchet is a b1-b2 octave. This patent mistake could have been committed in FE, in which, however, Chopin corrected it in the last phase of proofreading. The mistake in GE1 was corrected already in GE2 (→GE3).
