Slurs

b. 412

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

Dots & slur in GE3

..

The staccato dots introduced in GE3 are a totally arbitrary revision; moreover, they were introduced in all analogous bars. In turn, the later beginning of the slur could have been modelled after the slur in bar 436.

Dots & slurs in GE3

..

In the main text, we give the unquestionable slurs of FE (→GE1GE2). The shorter second slur of EE is a revision, probably related to the copying of the bottom slur from the previous figure at the transition between bars 413 and 414. The version of GE3 is totally arbitrary.

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Lower slur in FE

The additional little slur at the transition between bars 412 and 413 was probably overlooked in GE – the wedges in these bars were also overlooked. In turn, EE included the little slur and repeated it in bars 413-414; the second time, the top slur was arbitrarily shortened.

Slurs suggested by the editors

..

The missing first slur in FE (→GE1GE2) must be an oversight, corrected in EE. The inaccurate slur of GE1 (→GE2) was replaced in GE3 with arbitrary indications, i.e. staccato dots and a slur, adopted in this edition in all similar places.

b. 414-416

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No slur in sources

Slur suggested by the editors

..

In the main text, we suggest adding a slur over the passage in the R.H., as in bars 410-412. We lead the slur to the quaver at the beginning of bar 416 due to the reasons identified in the quoted note.
