The numbers entered into FES probably mean the same fingering as that written out in by Chopin in FED. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , Annotations in FED , Annotations in FES |

The indication con forza occurring in A (→GE>FE→EE) was deleted by Chopin in FEJ and FES, and removed by Franchomme from FEFr. We perceive those actions as the part of the radically altered concept for the dynamics in that part of the Nocturne (see bars 49-50). We also suggest the possibility of taking into account the somewhat unclear entry in FEJ. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Annotations in teaching copies , Annotations in FES , Annotations in FEFr , Authentic post-publication changes and variants , Annotations in FEJ |

We take into account the unquestionable and natural fingering written into FES. The fingering in FED is difficult to read: it was probably written two times and it is not clear whether the same digits were written twice (121), or whether they were different digits (121 and 14). Therefore we give both options as variants. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , Annotations in FED , Annotations in FES |

In the three teaching copies, the bass notes in bar 59 were doubled with lower octaves. In FES the octave progression is consistently brought to the beginning of bar 60. In our opinion this means that Chopin considered the version with the octaves at least equivalent to the version of A (→GE→FE→EE), in which single notes appear. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Annotations in teaching copies , Annotations in FED , Annotations in FES , Authentic post-publication changes and variants , Annotations in FEJ , Bass register changes , Abbreviated octaves' notation |
