The slur of A, interpreted in context; GE (→FEEE)

The slur of A, read literally

In A, the slur is drawn carelessly, which indicates that it was not supposed to differ from the locally used pattern  of half-bar slurs, natural for the pianist. The possible reasons for imprecise notation of A that we can think of are the lack of space between the chord in the right hand and the 2nd semiquaver of the left hand or the momentary failure of the pen. The reading offered as "transcript" illustrates the possibility of interpretation that is the furthest from the pattern.

Judging by its shape, the slur of GE was probably corrected – the originally engraved one began from the 2nd semiquaver. The correction might have been made at Chopin's request.
