Slur from b in FE

Slur from 2nd beat in GE & EE

At first sight, the L.H. slur seems to be inaccurate in FE, since it is placed over the top voice and begins between the 2nd and 3rd crotchets of that voice. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the engravers (revisers?) of GE and EE placed the beginning of the slur a quaver earlier, in accordance with the R.H. slur. However, by the repetition of this phrase 2 bars later, the L.H. slur also begins from the 4th quaver of the bar, which suggests that it was indeed intended by Chopin. Therefore, the slur would not apply to the top voice only, but it would also emphasise the progression of the bottom one, which begins with the following notes: b-c1-d1-e1. Such a notation can be encountered in Chopin's autographs, e.g. in . Taking into account the above, in the main text we give the version of FE
