b. 57

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

In the main text we add a  before e2, the 10th note from the end of the bar. Due to the previous  before e3, this accidental was sometimes considered superfluous – it is absent in FE (→GE1) – yet it was added in EE and GE2 (→GE3). Moreover, we add a cautionary  before b2 by the end of the run.

b. 57

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

Just like in b. 19, we consider the missing slur over the accompanying L.H. figure to be Chopin's oversight; in the main text we suggest a slur modelled after b. 17-18 and 56. A slur was also added in EE, yet, contrary to b. 19, it does not encompass the 1st quaver of the bar. See the next note.

b. 59-60

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

EE1 is lacking in the accidentals before the last semiquaver in b. 59 and the 4th note of the quintuplet in b. 60. These are patent mistakes – cf. the  lowering d2 to d2 in analogous b. 21 – probably committed still in [A], from which they got into EE1 through a proof copy of FE. In the very FE (→GE) Chopin not only added both flats in the last stage of proofreading, but also a cautionary  before d3 at the end of b. 60. All 3 accidentals were also added in EE2.
The same in b. 203-204.

b. 62

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

In FE (→GE1), there are no accidentals before the 1st, 3rd and 6th notes under the octave sign, which creates doubt as to their sound (at least theoretically). Corresponding accidentals –  e3 f3 and  d3 – were added in EE, while the first also in GE2 (→GE3). We also include them in the main text. A similar situation can be found in b. 206.

Slur in FE (→GE)

2 slurs in EE

3 slurs suggested by the editors

..

The fact that some fragments of the melodic line were left without slurs is almost certainly an inaccuracy of notation, hence in the main text we suggest completing the slurring. The version of EE must be a result of a revision, in which the existing slur was supplemented with another one, modelled after analogous b. 29.
