The accent in EE is almost certainly a revision, introduced on the basis of a comparison with analogous b. 8 and 16. Therefore, the addition may be considered justified, yet in the main text we keep the authentic notation of FE (→GE), since the whole-bar  leading to this long note naturally suggests that it should be accented.

In FE the layout of the R.H. run against the L.H. semiquavers almost certainly does not correspond to the performance intended by Chopin – cf. similar situations in b. 17 and 41, in which the R.H. part was laid out 'at a guess,' without considering its alignment with the L.H. part. Therefore, in the main text we suggest the layout adopted in EE, which suggests the run's tempo comparable to the one of the remaining figures written in small notes. The alternative versions are based on an assumption that, just like in the remaining figures, the notation of [A] indicated the performance manner with the help of the rhythmic values of the remaining notes in the bar, yet in the editions the value of the first a2 was misinterpreted.

According to us, the missing slur over the top voice is Chopin's inadvertence: in the further part of this phrase, corresponding slurs are already present. Due to the above reason, in the main text we suggest adding the slur after b. 5 and 13. EE added the slur in the 2nd half of the bar, probably after b. 37. However, the choice of this particular bar is unfortunate, since it is the only place in which this phrase derives from the preceding figuration, which evidently influenced a different slurring.
