b. 205-206

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

Slur in bars 206-207 in A

Slur in bar 206 in GE1 (→FE)

2 slurs in EE

Slur in bars 205-207 in GE2

..

In A the slur in the L.H. is written only on a new page, which, according to us, indicates an inaccuracy of notation. Therefore, in the main text we start the slur already in bar 205, in parallel to the slur in the R.H. (the same solution was adopted in GE2). In GE1 (→FE) the slur starts in bar 206 (in accordance with A), embracing with it only this bar (without fin bar 207). EE added a separate slur in bar 205.

Long accents in A

Short accents in GE (→FEEE)

..

The change of the clearly long accents in A to short ones is certainly a result of an inaccuracy of GE (→FEEE). The sign in bar 207 was initially written over the top stave in A, and then deleted and replaced with an accent between the parts of both hands.

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

Slur from 2nd beat in A & GE2

Slur from first beat in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

The earlier beginning of the slur in GE1 (→FEEE) has no musical justification and is an example of the schematic approach to slurs of the engraver of GE1. The simultaneous oversight of the staccato dot at the beginning of bar 213 in this edition probably contributed to the fact that the erroneous range of this slur was not detected in later editions.

Ties in A

Slurs in GE1 (→FEEE)

Slurs in GE2

..

The ties of b in bar 214 and a in bar 216, very carefully written in A, were nonetheless reproduced in GE1 (→FEEE) as d1-e1 and c1-dslurs. In GE2 the first of them was arbitrarily moved, so that it combines f1 and e1.

Long accents in A

Different accents in GE2

..

The signs under the chords in the L.H. in bars 214 and 216 in A are typical long accents. In GE (→FEEE) the first of them was reproduced as a short accent, whereas the second one as a . In GE2 the latter was shortened – most probably after A – so it can be considered a long accent.
