b. 262-264

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

4 accents in A & GE2

3 accents in GE1

3 accents in FE

3 accents in EE

..

In bars 252 and 264, A features clear accents on the second and penultimate quavers; such an accentuation scheme is repeated twice more in analogous bars. Therefore, omission of the 1st accent in bar 264 in GE1 (→FEEE) must be a mistake. The accents in FE are placed inaccurately, hence in EE they were put a quaver earlier, on the 1st and 7th notes of the bar, which is a mistake.

Slur g1-a1 in A

Slur b-c1 in GE (→FE)

Slur d1-c1 in EE

..

The slur of A, although placed under correct notes, undoubtedly concerns the crotchets in the top voice; we reproduce it in this way in the main text. In GE (→FE) it was moved under the minims in the bottom voice (b-c1), which was inaccurately reproduced in EE, by combining d1-c1.

 in bar 397 in A (→GEFE)

 in both bars in EE

..

The  marking was placed in FE before the chord on the 3rd beat in bar 397. This kind of placement is not something unusual, yet, together with the small gaps between the notes, it could have misled the engraver or reviser of EE. Repetition of  in bar 389, also before the cminim, suggests that such a placement was considered to be more likely due to the absence of any accents on these minims, differently than in analogous bars 53-54 and 57-58, in which EE has a  and bars 401-402, which include accents.

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

4 wedges in A

4 dots in GE

3 dots in FE

3 dots in EE

..

In A, the staccato marks at the beginning of bars 410-411 and 418-419 (in the part of the R.H.) are clear wedges – cf. the dots in the part of the L.H. The editions reproduced them as dots (as in the entire Concerto); at the same time, EE overlooked the sign in bar 410, whereas FE – in bar 418 (added in EE).

3 long accents in A & FE

 & > in GE1

3 short accents in EE & GE2

..

Three clearly long accents written in A were reproduced in GE1, without any apparent reason, in an explicitly varied manner. However, FE restored the notation of A, which could be seen as Chopin's proofreading. Both in EE and GE2 the Chopinesque long accents were reproduced as common short accents.
