b. 470

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

A features a cautionary  before ein the last triplet, yet the necessary  lowering d3 to dis missing. A flat was added already in GE1 (→FEEE, →GE2), however, no source removed the superfluous .

b. 471-472

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

In A the only accidentals in each of these bars are two flats before the 1st quaver in the R.H. All 9 remaining necessary flats were added already in GE1 (→FEEE, GE2). All next passages until bar 479 are written in a similarly simplified manner – cf. bars 473, 474-475, 476-477, 478-479. We regard all added accidentals in bars 471-479 as a revision, although it cannot be excluded that Chopin participated, even partially, in proofreading works on GE1.

4 slurs in A (possible interpretation→GEFEEE)

2 slurs in A, different interpretation

..

The issue whether the slurs at the transition between bars 472 and 473 and 474 and 475 are to be divided or combined is not clear in A, partially due to the corrections of both slurs and notes. A comparison with analogous figures in bars 476-480 suggests that the slurs having been reproduced by the editions as one-bar ones may correspond to Chopin's intention. However, the notation in bars 474-475 clearly suggests using a two-bar slur; such a possibility is not excluded by the notation of the two previous bars. Taking this into account, we suggest two interpretations of the discussed slurs.

Double slur in A & GE2

Single slur in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

GE1 (→FEEE) omitted the top slur, perhaps due to its atypical shape, resulting from corrections. The mark was added in GE2 together with top slurs in all similar figures.

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

In A, Chopin provided with sharps only the 1st octave in the L.H. and the first two quavers in the R.H. Six out of seven remaining necessary sharps – except f in the L.H. – were added already in GE1 (→FE), whereas the last one in EE and GE2 (EE added also, like in our main text, a cautionary  before the last quaver).
