Issues : Long accents
b. 222
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I
..
No accents on the 2nd and 4th crotchets in the bar is certainly an oversight of the engraver of GE1 (→FE→EE). In GE2 the mistake was corrected; however, the differences between the accents were not taken into account. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Errors in GE , GE revisions |

b. 223
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I
..
Same as in the previous bar, A has a long accent on d4 and a short one on c2. The difference was not included in GE, which probably resulted from the intention to simplify the notation. The further changes of the length of accents in FE and EE are also of an accidental nature. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE , EE inaccuracies |

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

All accents in the part of the R.H. are clearly long in A, which was not reproduced in GE1 and the remaining editions. We discuss the last one separately due to the differences in its placement. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE |

b. 230
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I
..
In this bar, it is unclear what kind of accents Chopin meant – in A the first two may be interpreted as long or short, the third one is long and the fourth one is short. A comparison with analogous bars – see bar 226, allows to resolve the doubt in favour of long accents. We discuss the fourth of them separately due to the sign's vague placement. In GE1 (→FE→EE), the first and third accents were overlooked, which was corrected in GE2. All accents in the editions are short, although the sign in FE could be considered to be long. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Errors in GE , GE revisions , Inaccuracies in A |

b. 234
|
composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I
..
The first two accents in A (→GE1) are clearly long, whereas the next two look like short ones, which, according to us, is an inaccuracy – see bar 226. Both accents are actually written after the note, which was one of the manner of writing long accents in Chopin's previous pieces – cf. bar 230. It is also worth mentioning that the accent on the f1 semiquaver played in the L.H. is even shorter. Unification of the accents in the remaining editions is an arbitrary decision of the engravers of revisers. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Inaccuracies in A |
