b. 204

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

e1 tied in A & GE2

e1 repeated in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

The missing tie of ein GE1 (→FEEE) is certainly a mistake. The tie could have been taken for a phrase mark.

b. 205

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

No slur in A, probable interpretation

Slur end in A (possible interpretation) & GE (→FEEE)

..

The slur, written in A in previous bars, when interpreted literally, does not exceed bar 204. However, the notation is ambiguous, so the slur reaching the beginning of this bar can be considered an alternative interpretation of A. The version with the slur ending in bar 205 is included in all editions.

b. 205

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

No slur in A & GE2

Slur in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

The slur, added in GE1 (→FEEE) may be a result of Chopin's proofreading. However, according to us, an erroneous interpretation of the tie of e1, overlooked in GE1, is more likely.

b. 205-207

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

Slur in A (contextual interpretation) & GE2

No slur in GE1 (→FEEE1)

Slur in EE2 (→EE3)

..

In bars 205-206, ending the page in A, the slur is led only over the R.H. However, on a new page, in bar 207 the ending of the slur is written in the parts of both hands. It can be simply an insignificant mistake, yet, according to us, writing the slur also in the L.H. proves that Chopin was convinced that he wrote slurs for both hands in the previous bars. Perhaps the slur in GE2 was added on that basis – it is absent in GE1 (→FEEE1). A slur added only in bar 206 in EE2 (→EE3) is absolutely arbitrary. See also bars 212-213.
