b. 208

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

Small crotchet in FE1

Small quaver in GC (→GE) & FE2 (→EE,FE3FE4)

..

The FE1 version is erroneous. This can be inferred from the concordance of GC and FE2, corrected after [A]

b. 209

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

..

FE1 (→FE2) has a as the bottom note on the 1st crotchet of the bar, which was corrected in FE3 (→FE4) and in the base text to EE. GC (→GE) also features the correct B.

b. 209-214

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

..

In the main text, we add cautionary flats before e's (in different octaves) at the end of these bars. These accidentals appear selectively in the sources – only in bar 214 in EE1, and in bars 210, 211 and 214 in GE and EE2.

b. 210

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

Shorter slur in GC

Longer slur in FE (→EE) & GE2

No slur in GE1

..

The second R.H. slur in GC encompasses only two crotchets, which certainly exemplifies numerous inaccuracies committed by the copyist in notating slurs. The slur was omitted in GE1 (cf. bars 212-214), and reinstated in GE2 as a three-note-long one, analogous to the neighbouring slurs.

b. 211-212

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

in bar 211 in GC (→GE)

No sign in FE (→EE)

in bar 212 suggested by the editors

..

The placing of the  sign (diminuendo/long accent) at the end of bar 211 in GC (→GE) is certainly a mistake – cf. bars 212-213, and an inaccurate slurring, e.g. in bars 212-214. We consider the omission of the sign in FE (→EE) to be an error as well. In the main text we shift the sign written in GC to the beginning of bar 212, accordingly with the analogous motives.
