Issues : Inaccuracies in FE
b. 29-30
|
composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II
..
The notation of accidentals in this passage is inaccurate in the sources, which, however, does not impede the interpretation of the correct text. In GC and previous FE, eight sharps are missing – before f, c, f1 and c2 in the L.H. and before c2, f2, c3 and f3 in the R.H. In EE, GE and FE4 the signs were added, but only GE2 includes the fully correct notation. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Omission of current key accidentals , EE inaccuracies , FE revisions , Inaccuracies in GC |

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

The absence of in GC (→GE) is probably an oversight of the copyist. It is also possible that Chopin added it in [A] already after having prepared the copy. In FE (→EE) the sign is only at the beginning of bar 33, which, according to us, follows from the necessity of choosing place for the sign written in [A] (partially) on the bar line. It is confirmed by placing the in the respective bar of the recapitulation (bar 220). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Errors of GC |

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

In GC and FE1 (→FE2→FE3,EE1), there is no accidental before the top most note of the 2nd chord in the L.H. This patent in this context inaccuracy was corrected in FE4, GE and EE2. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Omission of current key accidentals , EE inaccuracies , FE revisions , Inaccuracies in GC |

b. 36-37
|
composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II
..
The longer slur of FE (→EE) is most probably a result of an erroneous interpretation of the slur reaching the end of bar 36 in [A]. Chopin would use this kind of tenuto slurs on numerous occasions. The supposition is confirmed in Chopin proofreading of FE3 in the corresponding place of the recapitulation – see bar 224. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Tenuto slurs |

The absence of the wedge in FE (→EE) is most probably an oversight of the engraver. Anyways, Chopin's resignation from the sign seems to be highly unlikely. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE |
