b. 76-77

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

 in A

 in FE (→EEW1EEW2)

No sign in GE & EEC

..

The range of the  hairpin in A is not entirely clear – the mark's arms are of different length and it goes beyond the bar line ending bar 76 and the line of the text. The mark in FE could have been added in the last proofreading, together with the correction of the part of the L.H. – it is indicated by the fact that it was completely omitted in GE. The absence of the mark in EEC is probably due to an oversight. In the main text, we assume a possibly literal interpretation of the sign on the basis of A.

b. 85-86

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

Pedalling in A (→FEGE1no2,EEW1EEW2)

No markings in GE1op (→GE2opGE3op)

Pedalling in EEC

Pedalling in GE2no2

..

The  sign in A is placed clearly after the 1st crotchet in the L.H., which, as it seems, was accurately reproduced in FE (→GE1no2,EEW1EEW2). Chopin probably wanted to preserve the sound of the e bass note, yet he also wanted to avoid the mixture of the melodic semitones of the triplet in the R.H., which can be achieved by pressing the pedal only on the last note of the triplet. In EEC and GE2no2, the notation was considered to be inaccurate, in turn, in GE1op (→GE2opGE3op) the indications were generally omitted, probably due to an oversight.

b. 93

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

Staccato dot in A (→FEGE1no2,EEC)

No mark in GE1op (→GE2opGE3op), EEW1 (→EEW2) & GE2no2

..

The majority of the editions omit a staccato dot written in A (→FEGE1no2,EEC) above the last L.H. chord. The sign only make sense with the final version of the L.H. part – see note to bars 92-93.

g-c1-e1 in As, A (→FEEE) &i GE2op (→GE3op)

g-e1 in AI, GE1op & GE1no2 (→GE2no2)

..

Same as in bar 42, the triad version of the majority of the editions, reproducing – perhaps inaccurately – the difficult to decipher notation of A, is, according to us, most probably erroneous.
