In GE2no2, the slur over the part of the L.H. was omitted; it could have been considered superfluous after the g1 note had been moved to the lower staff (in A and in the remaining editions, it is on the upper staff). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

The evolution of the accompaniment in bars 69 and 85 consisted in reducing the number of notes on the 2nd and 3rd beats of the bar – As features two triads, AI two sixths, whereas in A and in the editions, Chopin also omitted the top note in the first sixth. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Accompaniment changes |

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

In the previous autographs, the melodic note has a longer rhythmic value, not including the touches in the L.H. The crotchet in the version prepared for print is written more realistically; however, according to us, it is the evolution of the concept of phrasing, from regular four-bar sections to a much more free structure, with an extended first phrase and more distinct breaths, marked with rests, before correspondingly moved subsequent phrases, that is more important than the issue of overlapping hands. The slurs also correspond to the changes of phrasing – in AI the slur begins from g1 in bar 69, whereas in A and in the editions – from g2 in bar 70. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations |

Slur in AI starts with minim g1 in bar 69. In the version prepared for print, Chopin changed phrasing assigning the note in bar 69 to the previous phrase, and beginning a new slur from g2 in bar 70. See the note below. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations |

The absence of the hairpin in the editions is almost certainly a mistake of the engraver of FE. category imprint: Differences between sources |
