The notation of the part of the L.H. in bars 68-69, 72-73, 84-85 and 88-89, in spite of being totally legible, turned out to be incomprehensible for the engraver of FE. In each of these four places, Chopin writes 2 curved lines – a tie for the dotted b minim or c1 and a phrase mark for the three-note chromatic progression of the bass. In FE, only for the 3rd time (bars 84-85) it was reproduced correctly, in three remaining places, none (!) of them was placed accurately. GE and EE repeated this erroneous notation, sometimes adding new inaccuracies and introducing minor revisions. Both previous autographs present a simplified notation, in which there are only the struck notes and there are no phrase marks.
