EE2 - Corrected reprint of EE1

Publisher: Wessel & Co.
Date: ⇒1840
Title: Douze Etudes || No. 22
Dedication: None

Among the changes introduced in EE2 one can mention an addition of the overlooked  before F in bar 23 and correction of the erroneous note in bar 26. However, a number of other defects remained incomplete – the sharps returning F and f1 in bar 6 and analogously in bar 14 or naturals returning B-b in bar 11.

Apart from the above changes of a rather ordering character, a few others, based on comparison with FE, were introduced, e.g., modifications of the ending in bars 60 and 80 or beginning in bar 71 and addition of chords in the R.H. in bar 107.

The addition of fingering in bar 98 is a totally arbitrary change, not resulting from an existing notation.

Some of the errors present in EE1 were not corrected – lack of sharps returning F and f1 in bar 6 (similarly in bar 14) or naturals returning B-b in bar 11.

The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin comes from a later impression (1843), in which the individual title page was replaced with the cover of the Wessel & Co's Complete Collection of the Compositions of Frederic Chopin series. EE2 was then reprinted with further versions of this collective cover (completed with next Chopin pieces published by Wessel) until ca. 1858, when certain modifications were performed in the note text (see the characteristics of EE3). EE2 also includes copies of this Etude published separately. All versions of EE2 with a collective cover, as well as those published separately, are devoid of the authentic dedication.
