While performing a new typesetting of the Etudes, Op. 25, the Breitkopf & Härtel company introduced a number of changes into the note text, i.a., correcting a part of the mistakes of GE1 on the basis of FC – the metronome tempo value at the beginning of the piece, the erroneous notes in bar 14, the too short slur in bars 70-72. Moreover:
- a number of cautionary signs was added, e.g., in bar 4;
- arpeggios in bar 36 were added;
- in bar 42 was returned;
- a slur in the L.H. in bar 74 was added;
- rests in the L.H. in bar 85 were added;
- the erroneous note in bar 86 was deleted;
- ranges of dynamic hairpins were changed, often slightly;
- a raising d to d in bar 122 was added;
- the slur in bar 123 was completed;
- accents in bars 130-133 were added.
GE2 was published with two graphic variants of the cover, identical as far as the content is concerned. The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin has the cover of the later version, used also in #GE4. Particular Etudes were also published separately, provided with a collective cover including 12 etudes each by Chopin, Henselt and Thalberg.
