There is no  in bar 14 before the last note in the R.H. in FC, FE and EE1. Similarly in bar 16, where the sign is absent in FC and EE1, whereas it is present in FE (probably added still in the base text to this edition). These patent oversights of Chopin were completed in GE and EE2 (→EE3).

The traces, visible in FC in the part of the L.H., show that the copyist initially wrote here the chords from bar 31, which, after having noticed his error, he erased and replaced with the correct ones.

In FC (→GE1) there are no arpeggio signs in this bar. It is certainly an oversight of the copyist, which forgot to introduce the wavy lines on the new page of the manuscript. The signs, present both in FE and EE, were added in GE2 (→GE3).

b. 76

composition: Op. 25 No 5, Etude in E minor

On the 3rd beat of the bar in FC, one can see a correction – the b and b1 notes were added after a and ahad been erased. According to us, it is Fontana's autocorrection, who, at first, repeated the harmonic scheme of the previous bars.

g2-e3 in FC (→GE1)

e3 in FE, EE & GE2 (→GE3)

..

As the 9th semiquaver, FC (→GE1) features a g2-e3 sixth. The unjustified breaking of the rule of figuration structure adopted by Chopin undoubtedly indicates a mistake of the copyist. The error was corrected in GE2 (→GE3).
