Both versions may be considered as justified here, both from the musical and source point of view. In the version of A Chopin avoids tripling the leading tone g1. The version of FE (→GE,EE) may be considered as accepted by Chopin, who introduced changes, among others, exactly in this bar (pedalling) while proofreading FE. The accompaniment's figure in this version has a similar scheme to the figures in the preceding bar and is identical to the figure used in bar 8. In the main text we adopt the version of the base source, i.e. FE.

In the main text we give the unambiguous version of A, in which the entire 2nd half of the bar is marked as a repetition of the 1st one. The version is somewhat confirmed by an analogous figure in the melodically and harmonically similar bar 24. As far as the sound is concerned, the version of FE (→GE,EE) is perfect, so it could be a result of Chopin's proofreading, yet possible traces of performing this correction are questionable.

Despite the fact that the a2-a3 octave is possible as far as the sound is concerned (cf. the Prelude in F minor, Op. 28 No. 8, bars 6 and 20), Chopin's mistake seems to be almost certain here, even due to the pianistic issues. The conclusion is confirmed by Chopin's proofreading performed in this place in FE (→GE,EE).
