b. 92-95

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

Chopin added a slur in FEG, ending it together with the bar line. It was only the engraver of GE1 that interpreted it literally, by placing the slur only in bar 94. There is no doubt that Chopin's intention was to lead the slur to the end of the phrase, i.e. the 1st crotchet in bar 95. The latter is included in EE, a relevant correction was also performed in GE2 (→GE3). FE does not have any slur in bars 92-95 at all. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |

Chopin added a slur in those bars to FEG, it is also present in EE. Although a fragment of the slur visible on the available photograph reaches only the bar line after bar 94 (on this basis GE1 ends the slur on the last quaver of this bar), the shape of the line nevertheless suggests a continuation into bar 95. In GE2 (→GE3) the slur was prolonged up to bar 95, but also arbitrarily divided into two parts in bar 92. FE does not have any slur in this passage. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: GE revisions , Authentic corrections of GE , Authentic corrections of EE |

In FE there is no returning a on the penultimate quaver. Chopin overlooked this error also in FEG, yet in GE1 (→GE2→GE3) the correct revision was performed. The necessary sign is also in EE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , GE revisions |

In GE2 (→GE3) the c1 from the chord on the 2nd crotchet was arbitrarily removed, certainly in order to homogenise it with analogous bar 157. We preserve the varied sound in these bars in accordance with FE0 (→FE,EE,FEG→GE1). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |
