f-a-f1 in GE1 (→GE2)

b. 139-140

In GE1 the slur was erroneously led up to the 3rd crotchet, from which the new slur starts simultaneously. A relevant correction was performed already in GE2 (→GE3).

a in FE, EE & GE2 (→GE3)

 repeated in GE1

..

The version of GE1, which does not sustain a, is attractive from the musical point of view, as repetition of this note underlines the distinctiveness of the melodically active middle voice. However, it is most likely that the missing tie is most probably the engraver's oversight, corrected in GE2 (→GE3). Cf. the adjacent note.

Arpeggio sign in FEG & FED

No sign in FE0 (→FE,EE) & GE

..

In FE0 (→FE,EE) there is no arpeggio sign. It was omitted also in GE, despite the fact that Chopin added it in FEG. Chopin's pencilled entry in FED confirms his intent to arpeggiate the chord.

b. 164-165

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

..

In FE0 (→FE,FEG) there is no change to the bass clef here. The sign was erroneously added in GE1, by placing it only after the 1st crotchet in bar 165. Eventually, the error was corrected in GE2 (→GE3). EE also features the clef in the correct place.
