In AI there is none of the indications written in A (→FE→EE,GE1→GE1a→GE2) in these bars, yet there is a sign in bar 16. The editions overlooked the dashes determining the range of the indications, which is a frequent mistake in the first editions of Chopin's works. In GE3 (→GE4→GE5) there is no "e" conjunction before ritenuto in bar 16. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE |

In the main text we give most probably the only (except for AI, which is devoid of indications) authentic version of articulation signs – four staccato dots written in A, traditionally meaning small accents. The remaining versions are probably a result of imposition of errors and revisions of the editors. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in FE , Inaccuracies in GE , GE revisions |

It is unclear whether Chopin wanted to mark the staccato of the quaver after the semiquaver triplet with a dot, as it is in A, or with a wedge, as it is in AI (only in bar 58) and FE (→GE,EE; in EE2 both signs were omitted, while in GE3 in bar 58 there is a dot). In this case, we consider A as the most reliable source. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE , Errors in EE |
