Before the 7th semiquaver in A there is no returning e1. However, there is a before e1 on the 9th semiquaver, which would be unjustified, if the 7th and 8th semiquavers were meant to be e1. Therefore, an oversight of the is beyond any doubt and it was confirmed by an accidental added in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). Analogous bar 37 is written correctly already in A. Chopin added a slur in bars 7-8 at the time of proofreading FE (→GE,EE). According to us, the proofreading's goal was to extend the slur from bar 6 and the applied solution is of a simplified nature – extending a slur required much more workload of the engraver, thus Chopin could have felt embarrassed to require such a change in a place which, actually, was printed in accordance with the base text. A has only a mark in the 2nd half of the bar, while FE (→GE,EE3) only marks in the 1st half. The marks added in the 1st half of the bar are undoubtedly a result of Chopin's proofreading, however, it is not entirely clear in the case of the mark omitted in the 2nd half of the bar. Therefore, in the main text we include the addition performed in FE (interpreting the mark as continuation of the previous one), yet we do not entirely renounce the hairpins written in A (cf. bar 7).
