Issues : Omissions to cancel alteration

b. 4

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

..

Before the 7th semiquaver in A there is no  returning e1. However, there is a  before e1 on the 9th semiquaver, which would be unjustified, if the 7th and 8th semiquavers were meant to be e1. Therefore, an oversight of the  is beyond any doubt and it was confirmed by an accidental added in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). Analogous bar 37 is written correctly already in A. Cf. bar 12.

b. 10

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

..

In A there is no  returning a2 on the 10th semiquaver. This obvious oversight was corrected in FE (→GE,EE).

b. 12

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

e2 in A

e2 & e2 in FE (→GE,EE)

..

Lack of the  returning e2 on the 7th semiquaver and the  returning e2 two semiquavers later clearly suggests the use of the C minor chord in the middle of this bar. Chopin's proofreadings of FE (→GE,EE), however, ensure that, similarly as in bar 4, the composer's intention was the C major chord (in A analogous bar 37 is already written correctly).

b. 33

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

e1 in A

d1 in FE (→GE,EE)

..

While proofreading FE (→GE,EE), Chopin changed the notation of the bottom note of the 5th and 6th semiquavers from e1 to d1. At the same time, he did not realise that after the change, a  returning d1 in the last pair of semiquavers should be added. The mistake was corrected in GE and EE4.

b. 40

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

..

In A there is no  returning c1 in the chord on the 4th quaver in the bar. This evident oversight by Chopin was corrected in FE (→GE,EE).
