In the main text we give the title and dedication in the undoubtedly authentic version adopted in FE. The extensions of both the title (in GE and EE) and the dedication (in EE) most probably come from the editors. See the Etude in C major, No. 1, bar 1.

The brillante and legato indications added by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE) in bars 1 and 3 respectively are considered by us as the final decision of the composer, as far as the articulation and sound of the figurations in the R.H. are concerned. The change should undoubtedly be related to the dynamic markings added in FEleggierissimo does not rather correspond to the  dynamics.

All dynamic markings in bars 1-3, 5-6, 9-11 and 13-15 were added by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). At the same time, it can be assumed that it was a change of the dynamic concept and not its clarification, which is proved by the parallel change of leggierissimo to brillante in bar 1 and reduction of the number of notes in the chords in bar 2 and analog.
