  b. 28

  in A

 in FE (→GE,EE

The dynamic and expressive indications of A in bars 25-28 suggest a delicate opposition to bars 25 ( and dolce) and 26 (). As  is repeated in bar 28 and, in a sense, it is reinforced with dolcissimo, one could assume that bar 27 should be performed  and bars 27-28 repeat the relation indicated in bars 25-26. This image, despite a certain inconsistency of indications (no indication in bar 27 and two in bar 28), seems to be understandable and convincing as a whole. The impression disappears in FE (→GE,EE) in which, not to mention the issue of lack of the hairpins in bars 25-26 and 28, instead of  in bar 28 there is , contrary to the aforementioned interpretation of the notation of A. At the same time, it is uncertain whether the change of the indication is a result of Chopin's proofreading or of a kind of misunderstanding, perhaps, e.g.,  was supposed to be in bar 27?

Not having found a convincing explanation of the aforementioned discrepancies and inconsistency, as far as the sources and music are concerned, in the main text we adopt  written by Chopin in A. See also bar 44
