Slurs in A, literal reading

Slur in FE (→GE,EE

..

We present the literal interpretation of the slurs included in A, however, there is no doubt that Chopin considered this notation to be equal to one slur, as in bars 1-2. A similar hesitation, concerning the choice of space for leading the slur, is visible also in bars 41-42.
In GE2 (→GE3GE4) the end of the slur was moved to the beginning of bar 5, which is a patent error.

b. 9-16

composition: Op. 10 No 12, Etude in C minor

..

We give the slurring of the figures in the L.H. in bars 9-10, 15 and similar in the entire Etude only in the standardised version, despite the fact that some of the slurs are inaccurately written. The regularity of the texture and a great number of repetitions of similar figures deny the intentionality of considering these minor divergences in transcriptions. Cf. the remark concerning dynamic hairpins.

Slur in A, interpretation

Slurs in FE (→GE,EE

..

In A the slur in bar 17 (the last one on the page) suggests a continuation, which is, however, not confirmed by the slur in bar 18. FE (→GE,EE) includes separated slurs. Taking into account the fact that the slur in bar 18 in A is evidently inaccurately written, we assume that Chopin's intention in this place was most probably one slur until the end of bar 18.

Slur in EE

Our suggestion

..

In the main text we suggest to add the slur in the L.H. Leaving without the slur only bar 27 may have resulted from graphic difficulties in FE (→GE), similarly as embracing with a slur only the end of the bar in A.
The whole-bar slur in EE is undoubtedly an addition of the revision.

Two slurs in A (literal reading)

One slur in A (interpretation) & FE (→GE,EE

..

The slur of A, despite having been written as two lines, was, according to us, accurately interpreted in FE (→GE,EE) as one mark.
