Fingering in FE (→GE)

Fingering in EE

In the entire Etude A includes only a few fingering digits (in bars 27 and 33), which were then carefully added by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE) – cf. the Etude in A minor, No. 2. The digits added by Fontana in bars 1-3, 5-27, 32, 35, 37-42, 45-51, 55-60, 64-78 and 81 are only a development of authentic hints, although in a few other places they exceed a simple act of copying (bars 18, 24, 66, 68-69, 77, 81). The additions, although unnecessary, seem to be quite justified in certain situations.

Minor changes to Chopin's fingering marks were also introduced in GE4, e.g., in bar 42.
