composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor

..

In CLI and FE (→EE) there is no  returning e2 on the 12th semiquaver. This version, with repeated e2, although acceptable from the musical point of view, is however certainly a mistake, which is proved by the  before the next e2, which is legitimate only when the discussed note sounds as e2. The correct text can be found in Ap and GE.

composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor

In CLI and FEcor there are no accidentals before the fourth in the lower voice, which is certainly a mistake.
CLI and FE (→GE1GE2GE4,→EE) have an unnecessary  before b2 in this place.

composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor

..

In one of the last proofreadings of FE the A-a octave was preceded with naturals, which are highly unjustified here. The signs were probably added – by Chopin or perhaps by the reviser who worked with him – together with the necessary  returning a2 on the 12th semiquaver; it is possible that this is the fact that influenced the person introducing the corrections. The naturals are not included in the manuscripts, they were also removed from GE4 (→GE5).

We add cautionary naturals before the G-g octave. The addition was also made in GE2 (→GE3GE4GE5) and EE4.

No slur in CLI, Ap & FE (→EE2EE3)

Slur in GE & EE4

..

Chopin did not mark the ending of the slur in FE (→EE2EE3), whose beginning he wrote himself in FEcor (→FEGE,EE). We add the only possible addition in this situation, in accordance with the ending of the slur introduced in GE (and EE4).
