b. 37

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

..

In [A] (→PE), bar 37 is the last one written out in notes in this part of the Polonaise. The respective markings (Dal Segno, written as D.S., with a mistake) refer subsequently to bar 11. In the main text we write repeated bars 11-24 as bars 38-51.
In JC, a similar abbreviation of notation includes only bars 40-51. In EF, all subsequent fragments of the Polonaise are written out entirely.

The abbreviations applied in the sources mean that the differences and problems appearing in the bars embraced by them are to a large extent a repetition of those described above. If there are no additional new elements, we do not repeat the content of the remarks, referring to the commentaries given for the first time.

b. 39

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

..

Bar 39 is the last one written out in notes in [AI] (→JC). A respective indication, the so-called segno, refers subsequently to bar 13. In PE, a similar abbreviation of notation appears two bars earlier, whereas in EF all the following fragments of the Polonaise are written out entirely.

See the note concerning bar 37.

b. 51

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

..

Neither in PE, which certainly recreates the layout of [A] accurately, nor in JC, the end of the Polonaise is explicitly marked. Double bar lines, the indication Trio in bar 52, and the generally known dance form allowed to understand the order and scope of particular sections without any difficulties.
Cf. the note concerning bar 103.

In EF, all performed sections are written out entirely, therefore, there is no need to insert the hints clarifying the piece's form.

b. 67

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

Double bar-line in JC

Repeat sign in EF & PE

..

Lack of the indication of repeat of bars 52-67 in JC may correspond to the notation of [AI]. Chopin's autographs reveal an inaccurate writing of repeats and other abbreviations of notation in dance forms, which was possibly a result of the generally known conventions in this respect.

b. 87

composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major

..

In [AI] (→JC) and [A] (→PE), bar 87 is the last bar of the Trio written out in notes. Respective markings – Dal Segno in JCTrio dal Segno in PE – refer then to bar 52. In the main text we write the repeated bars 52-67 as bars 88-103. In EF, all the subsequent sections of the Polonaise are written out entirely.

Same as in the case of bars 38-51, the abbreviations applied in the sources contribute to the fact that the differences and problems appearing in the bars they include are a repetition of those previously discussed. When there are no new elements, we do not repeat the content of remarks, referring to the commentaries given for the first time.
