b. 315

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

In EE there is no  marking, which obviously is an error, as in b. 319 there is an appropriate  marking.

b. 325

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

 in EE & GC (→GE)

No marking in FE

Our suggestion

..

Just like in the case of other execution markings in this part (form b. 327), no  in FE  may have been Chopin's momentary lack of focus while writing [A2]. Since there is no  in any of the sources, we propose appropriate supplementation in b. 339.

b. 383-384

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Pedalling in EE

No  in GC (→GE)

No pedalling in FE

..

Only in EE there is a pedal up mark at the end of b. 384, this may have been an editorial revision. In FE there are no pedal markings in these bars, which may have been the engraver's omission as there is  in a corresponding bar t. 41.

b. 457

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

 in EE

GC (→GE)

 in FE

..

The asterisk  is placed differently in different sources. We take the version of EE and GC (→GE) as it is consistent with the notation of most analogous places and blends naturally with the notation of the rhythm.

No  in FE must be an error.
