Each one of the three printed versions of the slur ending (EE, GE and FE) may be considered right. Also, each one can be treated as a reading of the notation of GC, and possibly also of other - lost - manuscripts. The first crotchet of bar 243 is both the end of the octave phrase and the beginning of a new, eight-bar musical thought forming the basis for the figurative section in bars 243-286. Similar phrases in bars 192-199 and 486-493 cannot be used as indication for the fragment discussed here due to different continuation.
