b. 28

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

The rhythm of A (interpretation)

GE1 (erroneous rhythm)

FE (→EE)

..

Determining Chopin's intention related to the rhythm on the 3rd beat of the bar seems impossible here. A erroneously has a quaver and two demisemiquavers () in the upper voice. The text of GE1 is also erroneous : . That latter rhythms was corrected both in GE2 (→GE3) and in FE (→EE). The version of GE2, although it is the work of the reviewer, may be considered an alternative to our interpretation of the rhythm of A. The version of FE may result from Chopin's correction, yet this is not certain.

b. 31

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

..

In A, the quaver c1 in this bar does not differ much from those from bars 23 and 29, yet the editions do not have an extra crotchet stem added here (except GE3).

b. 32

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

No slur in A (→GE1FEEE)

A small slur in GE2 (→GE3)

..

We are adding a small slur linking the grace note with the crotchet b flat2. The difference of notation between this bar and the similar bar 24 does not seem intended by Chopin. The sign was already added in GE2 (→GE3).

b. 36-37

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

Sustained e flat1 in A and GE2 (→GE3)

Without the e flat1 crotchet in GE1

Unclear slur in FE

A phrase mark in EE

..

In A, the double-dotted quaver e1 on the 3rd beat of the bar is prolonged to the crotchet value and tied to e1 in the subsequent bar. The omission of the additional crotchet stem for that note in GE1 made it considerably harder to read that fragment properly. The notations of FE and EE further deform Chopin's notation: the tie for e1 is interpreted as a phrase mark linking the demisemiquaver d2 with the struck e1 in bar 37.
