A long accent in A (→GE1FE)

A short accent in EE and GE2 (→GE3)

The reproduction of the long accent in GE1 (→FE) most probably resulted from mistaking it for short diminuendo hairpins. This conviction may also explain further changes in EE and GE2 (→GE3), in which reviewers changed what they considered improper diminuendos to accents.
