In GE2 (→GE3), the slur end was moved to the 2nd quaver d2, probably after comparison had been made with the notation of GE1 in the majority of analogous bars. Cf. the note to bar 6.

A dot in A (→GE1→FE) and EE3

No staccato sign in EE1 (→EE2), GE2 (→GE3)

The lack of the staccato sign in EE1 (→EE2) is certainly an error. The same inaccuracy in GE2 (→GE3) is puzzling, yet an accidental omission is also a plausible explanation here as well. The dot in EE3 was added on the basis of GE1, as the reviewer of  EE3 definitely availed himself of that German edition.

The staccato dot above the 2nd chord of the L.H. was added in GE2 (→GE3) probably by analogy to bar 20. We do not include that arbitrary addition in our main text.

In  A the accent mark and  are written one on top of the other, so it is not clear whether both should be taken into consideration or whether one was meant to replace the other. In GE (→FE→EE) that notation was understood as replacement of the accent with . However, as there are no visible attempts to remove any of the marks, perhaps Chopin could mean superimposing one on the other, the effect known from numerous combinations such as . Therefore we give both marks in our main text.

We consider the omission of the dot above the 1st crotchet in GE1 (→FE→EE) to be accidental, as the engraver probably placed the dot above a wrong note. The dot was supplemented in GE2 (→GE3).
