When interpreted literally, the A slur ends over the penultimate quaver, which is a patent inaccuracy (cf. bars 14-16 or 21-22), hence in the main text we include its interpretation as adopted by GE (→FE,IE). The EE slur must be inaccurate, while its compliance with the A notation is accidental. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Inaccurate slurs in A , EE inaccuracies |

In the main text we provide the division into parts as written down in A. The notation is accurate enough to rule out the possibility of random inaccuracies, which is undoubtedly the case in other places in the Sonata. The simplified notation of the editions partially conceals the harmonic legato effect, that is holding notes of chords with fingers to achieve a more complete harmonic filling. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |
