It is uncertain whether the difference in the placement of the  mark was intended by Chopin; however, in the face of numerous pedalling differences between A and FE, which cannot be explained by mistakes or inaccuracies, we suggest to consider the FE pedal, starting earlier, to be a potentially authentic variant.
