b. 134-140

composition: Op. 12, Variations in B♭ major

..

Most of the wedges present in FE (→EE) were arbitrarily changed to staccato dots in GE – see the note in bar 7. As the change covers all wedges included in GE, we consider the version of this edition to be one variant, on this page encompassing generally 4 marks in bar 134 and 139-140, yet we discuss the L.H. mark at the beginning of bar 140 separately due to other source issues.

The sources do not include a  to g2, which is a typical inaccuracy related to the use of an octave sign.

No slur in FE (→EE)

Slur in GE

..

There is no doubt that the omission of the slur in FE (→EE) was accidental – cf. the adjacent bars, particularly the first appearance of this phrase (bars 117-120). The slur was added in GE, perhaps at Chopin's request.

b. 137

composition: Op. 12, Variations in B♭ major

..

In FE (→GE1) the  raising g1 to g1 is missing. The mistake is proven by both the further course of the figuration, using e2 and g2 (at the beginning of the trill in bar 138), and the comparison with analogous bar 119. The mistake was corrected in GE2 and EE.
