Without 4 slurs in FE (→EE)

Slur in FEO & GE

Slur in GE & FEO

In bars 129-131 the L.H. slurs visible in FE (→EE) form a pattern that, in spite of the absence of 4 slurs, is easy to decipher – in bars 129-130 the slurs are supposed to encompass the groups of 3 semiquavers (the last one is a dotted semiquaver) and the pairs consisting of a demisemiquaver and the following quaver, while in bar 131 the slurs should encompass the groups of four semiquavers. In this situation, we consider that the omitted slurs could be resulting from oversights by the FE engraver or Chopin, and we add them in the main text. The omitted slurs are the following:

  • In bar 129 the slur from f to d1; it was added in FEO as well as in GE.
  • In bar 130 both slurs from the c1 demisemiquaver to the following quaver; the slurs are also absent in GE, in which on top of that the slur over the semiquaver in the 2nd half of the bar was inaccurately reproduced.
  • In bar 131 the slur encompassing 4 semiquavers in the 1st half of the bar; it is also absent in GE.
