indication was added in PE2 (→PE3→PE4) probably as a correction of the oversight by the engraver of PE1 (→GE). According to us, however, it is more likely that the indication entered into [A] was 
, and not :
- Chopin would use only in exceptional cases,
- publishers had problems with deciphering as a less popular form of this indication (on a number of occasions, it was replaced with
, while in the Variations in B
, Op. 12 an uncommon zf abbreviation was used a few times).
