Slurs

b. 67-70

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness

issues: Inaccurate slurs in A

b. 71-73

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

..

The slurs in A (→GE) in bars 71-73 begin from the 2nd crotchet in the L.H. and end on the bar line. In FE and EE the slurs include the entire bars in the L.H., which can be a result of the inaccurate notation of the lost base texts or of the original notation of analogous figures in the L.H. in bars 55 or 65.

b. 71-72

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

..

In A (→GE) and EE the slur includes the first crotchet in bar 72. In FE the slur ends on the last quaver in bar 71, which can stem from the inaccurate notation of the lost base text.

b. 74

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

..

In all editions the slur over the group of grace notes was omitted. It could have been a result of the manuscripts' awkward notation: in A the slur placed under the notes intersects the ties.

b. 74-75

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

..

In EE the slur in bar 74 includes the entire bar, while in bar 75 it starts from the 2nd crotchet and lasts until the end of the bar. FE has two full-bar slurs – it could be a remain of the original notation of analogous figures in the L.H.
